A Terrorist group in northern Nigeria, Ansaru has claimed responsibility for the attack on Nigerian soldiers due to be redeployed to Mali as part of African troops.
On Saturday, Authorities confirmed that two soldiers were killed and five others injured along the Okene-Lokoja highway in a coordinated gun and explosive attack.
In a statement, the terrorists group Ansaru vowed to attack any African countries that “help western countries to fight Islamists and Muslims.”
“We have successfully execute our first attempt in crippling the Nigerian army troops whose aim was to demolish the Islamic empire of Mali. We are warning the African countries to confiscate their effort for helping Western countries in fighting against Islam and Muslim,” the group warned
The soldiers who were attacked were part of the Nigerian military troops traveling in a convoy of two luxury buses to Kaduna where they are expected to be airlifted to Mali as part of the African troops helping to fight against Islamic fundamentalists threatening to forcefully take over the country.
